But the first makes me think that mandatory service/draft is needed. After all, the military claims to be an all volunteer service, but this claims fails on a multitude of fronts. We should all have a stake in how our military is used. Regarding the second point, I think it is also important to conceptualize and integrate the negative effects we have on innocent people as we move forward. Hypotheticals aside, the reality is that the civilian death toll in Iraq is staggering by any estimate. Both your point are right on.
